Barcelona will host the first WMO Regional Meteorological Center specialized on Atmospheric Sand and Dust Forecast
The Center will be managed by a consortium of the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS)
Technical Meeting on the Regional Programme to Combat Sand and Dust Storms held in Abu Dhabi
The Technical Meeting on UNEP Regional Programme to Combat Sand and Dust Storms (SDS) was held in Abu Dhabi, 6-7 May 2013 under the patronage of H.E the Minister of Environment and Water of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Environment and water and the UAE National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS). About 50 participants attended the meeting representing governments of the Region, UN, League of Arab States, Gulf Cooperation Council, regional and international organisations.
