High Latitude Dust Workshop 2025

Summary

The 9th HLD Workshop will take place in Reykjavik on 12-13 February 2025 and will be hybrid including online talks. The overarching aims of this interdisciplinary workshop are to introduce results from HLD field measurements, processes leading to dust suspension, identification and mapping of HLD sources, long-range transport of HLD as well as of Saharan dust towards the Arctic, impacts of impurities on cryosphere, and the role of aerosols in high latitude environments.

The main focus in 2025 is in-situ measurements, remote sensing, modeling, long-range transport, and climate impacts of HLD and low latitude dust in the Arctic and at high latitudes. There will be an opportunity to attend the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) session in Iceland with experts on aerosol monitoring and modeling from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and World Meteorological Organization Sand and Dust Storm Warning Advisory and Assessment System (WMO SDS WAS).
